RICHARD JAMES WHEATON

Richard James Wheaton, 45, of Fairmont, White Hall/Boothsville communities, passed away Tuesday (Sept. 23, 2008) as a result of an automobile accident. He was born in Cape May County Court House, N.J., on March 11, 1963, a son of James Edward and Lorraine Changlin Wheaton of North Wildwood, N.J. He is also survived by his wife of 22 years, Johnna Louise Fariss Wheaton, pastor of the Boothsville United Methodist Charge. Mr. Wheaton was currently employed at Prologic Inc. of Morgantown and Fairmont contracted out to S M Stoller of Morgantown as a software engineer. He earned a bachelor of science in computer science from Virginia Tech and a master’s of science from Purdue University. Richard was the happiest at home with his family. In addition to his parents and wife, Richard is survived by two special daughters, Victoria Wheaton and Patricia Wheaton, both of Fairmont; two brothers, Mark Wheaton and his wife Mimi of West Chester, Pa., and Edward Wheaton and his wife Anne of Coraopolis, Pa. Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Loretta Fariss of Allisonia, Va.; a sister-in-law, Dena Fariss of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother-in-law, Don Fariss of Allisonia, Va. In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated. The Wheaton family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Central United Methodist Church, 301 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, with the Rev. Myrna Bethke, the Rev. David Jasper, and the Rev. Luana Cook Scott officiating. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Wheaton’s family request donations be made to the Boothsville United Methodist Charge, Parsonage Fund, c/o Charlotte Mauller, RR 7, Box 306-C, Fairmont, WV 26554.
